Engineering Precision and Climate Innovation for the Factory of the Future
President, ATEQ
For nearly 50 years, ATEQ has been a trusted global partner for industrial manufacturers seeking absolute reliability in quality control. Founded in 1975, the Group designs and manufactures high-precision leak testing and leak detection solutions used worldwide in sectors where safety, performance and durability are non-negotiable. From the very beginning, ATEQ has followed a clear philosophy: what cannot be measured cannot be controlled, and what cannot be controlled cannot be made sustainable.
»Quality is not an abstract concept. It is the result of precise measurement, controlled processes and long-term discipline«, explains Jacques Mouchet, founder of ATEQ Group.
This engineering mindset now extends naturally to energy management and environmental responsibility.
Precision Engineering: The Foundation of Quality and Trust
Leak tightness plays a critical role in modern industrial products. Even microscopic leaks can lead to safety risks, increased energy consumption, reduced product lifetime and higher environmental impact.
ATEQ’s leak testing systems are engineered to deliver:
– High measurement accuracy
– Excellent repeatability
– Robust performance in demanding industrial environments
– Long-term operational reliability
Quality at ATEQ is embedded throughout the entire lifecycle of each solution: from R&D and design to manufacturing, calibration, installation and after-sales support. Close customer proximity and active involvement throughout the project lifecycle are core elements of ATEQ’s DNA.
This approach is reinforced by internationally recognized certifications, including ISO 9001, ISO / IEC 17025 and ISO 14001.
»Our customers expect reliability over decades, not just at commissioning. Certifications such as ISO 9001 and ISO / IEC 17025 formalize what has always been part of our DNA: discipline, traceability and continuous improvement,« says ATEQ management.
ISO 14001: Turning Environmental Commitment into Engineering Decisions
For ATEQ, ISO 14001 is not a communication tool. It is a decision-making framework. Through its ISO 14001 environmental management system, ATEQ has defined clear environmental objectives focused on reducing energy consumption, increasing the use of renewable energy and progressively lowering its carbon footprint. With the ambition of achieving carbon neutrality for scopes 1 and 2 by 2030, the Group combines targeted actions across operations, supply chain and product life cycles with concrete solutions such as the integration of Sun Ice Energy’s thermal storage technology, directly supporting energy efficiency and emissions reduction at industrial scale.
Whether we measure leaks or store energy, the principle is the same: precision enables responsibility
»Energy efficiency is an engineering challenge, just like leak testing. It requires reliable data, stable systems and solutions that perform over time,« explains the founder.
This conviction directly led to the creation of Sun Ice Energy.
Sun Ice Energy: Applying Industrial Logic to Energy Storage
Sun Ice Energy is built on a simple but powerful idea: store renewable energy efficiently and release it when it is truly needed.
Using advanced Phase Change Materials (PCM), Sun Ice Energy stores solar energy in the form of ice and heat. Unlike conventional battery systems, PCM stores energy as latent thermal energy during phase changes, allowing high energy density, minimal losses and exceptional durability.
»We did not want an energy solution with the lifespan of a battery. We wanted an industrial solution – stable, safe and designed to operate for decades,« explains Jacques Mouchet, the founder of Sun Ice Energy.
Key Engineering Benefits
– Reliable 24 /7 thermal regulation
– Drastic reduction of peak electricity demand
– Maximum use of renewable energy
– Non-toxic, non-flammable, recyclable materials
– System lifespan up to 50 years
For engineers, the logic is familiar: long-term stability beats short-term efficiency gains.
From Innovation to Implementation: The Eco-Responsible ATEQ Factory in China
ATEQ chose not to limit Sun Ice Energy to a conceptual or pilot project. The technology has been fully integrated into ATEQ’s new eco-responsible manufacturing facility in China.
From the earliest design phase, the site was conceived as an industrial demonstration of ISO 14001 principles in action
»If we expect our customers to invest in sustainable technologies, we must first apply them ourselves at industrial scale,« states ATEQ sales team management.
The objective of this project was to significantly reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions while maintaining the high level of manufacturing precision and production stability required for ATEQ’s industrial operations.
To achieve this, Sun Ice Energy’s thermal energy storage technology was fully integrated into the factory’s energy architecture from the earliest design stages. As a result, heating and cooling requirements are optimized using stored solar energy, substantially reducing dependence on grid electricity.
This approach leads to a measurable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions while ensuring stable indoor conditions that are essential for high-precision manufacturing processes.
This factory demonstrates that sustainability and productivity are fully compatible, with environmental performance reinforcing operational robustness.
Engineering the Future of Responsible Industry
ATEQ and Sun Ice Energy share the same engineering philosophy
– Precision and measurement
– Reliability over the full lifecycle
– Certified processes and traceability
– Responsibility toward people, customers and the environment
»Whether we measure leaks or store energy, the principle is the same: precision enables responsibility,« concludes the founder.
As industry faces energy transition, climate challenges and increasing regulatory pressure, ATEQ demonstrates that quality, innovation and sustainability can be aligned within a single industrial strategy.
ATEQ is actively shaping a new model of industrial excellence.
